Following the rising demand of electrical energy in one of the most dramatically developing cities in Korea a new 345kV KEPCO substation was inaugurated in Asan end of May 2010. Various high ranking representatives from the municipality and from resident corporations attended the substation opening ceremony for Tangjeong Crystal Valley, the home of Samsung's sprawling LCD manufacturing facilities.
LIOS Technology’s distributed temperature sensing system monitors two 154kV high voltage cable circuits supplying the industrial glass substrates facilities used for TFT LCD panel production.
The 154 kV high voltage cables manufactured by Prysmian Cables & Systems carry embedded fibre optics using FIMT for measuring the distributed temperature profiles. The DTS readings are visualised at the central control and dispatch centre ensuring save operation and allowing exploitation of the high voltage cable routes at full capacity potential.
